After a 4th quarter touchdown and a missed extra point, Allen trailed defending state champion Woodland, 26-25, with 6:33 showing on the clock. With two timeouts, the Mustang defense, which had stepped up big time in the second half, just needed one stop. But that proved to be difficult as the Cougars converted first down after first down. And, when the Mustangs did finally force a punt, Allen was left with 27 seconds, no timeouts, and 54 yards to cover. But cover they did!

The Tigers came in 5-3, same as the Mustangs, with their own hopes of claiming that last first round home playoff game. After extending the lead to 48-6 in the third quarter, all Tiger hopes were dashed. continued page 3 Allen started strong, taking the opening kickoff and marching down the field and scoring on a Quintin Box 11yard keeper. A low snap on the extra point was turned into a pass from Box to Brax Wofford and the Mustangs claimed a quick 8-0 lead.

Second, after a short week of practice, they had to travel to Sallisaw to face a really good, physical Tiger squad in Central High. Box mentioned he was worried about this one going in, but his Mustangs quickly put his concerns to bed by destroying the Tigers on Senior Night, 40-0.

Read moreby Steve Bullard Sometimes things go wrong. And sometimes they go really, really wrong. That more or less sums up the 3rd quarter for the Allen Mustangs Friday night at Mustang Field. After taking a 1614 lead into the locker room, feeling pretty good about things, the next few minutes of the game would reverse that. A quick fumble, followed by a misplayed kickoff which led to a Savage recovery, and an interception turned a 2-point lead into a 34-16 deficit before many fans had found their seats after visiting the concession stand.
