A fire Sunday afternoon destroyed the home, barn, camper and possessions of Kenny Moore. The fire started inside the house and spread where it eventually ignighted some propane tanks that were outside. Fire departments from Allen (5 trucks), Atwood (2), Gerty (2) and Calvin responded to the fire. A benefit account has been set up for Kenny Moore and Sharonda Pirtle at Farmers State Bank in Allen.
Join us this Saturday in Atwood at the Community Center for 4 hours of peace and music (plus food!) starting at 2 to 6 pm Bring your chair and enjoy beans, cornbread and drinks for a donation. The money raised will go towards Christmas baskets for Nursing Home residents.
Allen defeats Coalgate 18-12 last week
The Allen/Calvin team traveled to Coalgate for a District Class 2A battle last Thursday. Despite outhitting the Coalgate team, they came up short 8-7 in the game.
Friday night was a big night for Garrett Nix as he led the Mustangs in both rushing and touchdowns. Nix traveled 142 yards on ten carries to put three touchdowns on the scoreboard.
Allen Public Schools received a grant recently that will allow the system to purchase meat from local sources.
