Services Held For Thomas Byrd

It is with a heavy heart that we share news of the passing of Thomas Charles Byrd. Tom passed away on February 10, 2022 in Ada, Oklahoma at the age of 71.

Thomas was born on January 4, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Hanford Joint Union High School in California. After High School, he graduated from East Central University with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture. He dutifully served in the US Army from 1971 to 1973 during the Vietnam War. After the war, he returned home and spent his time as a farmer, rancher, and carpenter. He enjoyed carpentry work the most and built several beautiful homes.

Tom was a true American Cowboy, stubborn and set in his ways, but had an unwavering love for his 3 children. That was only surpassed by the love he shared with his wife, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lamesa Byrd, brother Timothy Byrd, sister-in-law Jo Byrd, and his son, Dax Byrd.

Left cherishing his memory are his wife, Brenda Byrd; son Thomas Byrd and wife Tammy; daughter Redena Hall and husband Scott; son Chris Grady and wife Cassiddy; son Nick Grady and wife Jordan; brothers David Wayne Byrd, Donald Byrd and wife Jana, and Roger Byrd and wife Debbie; one sister, Kathryn Byrd Summers and husband Richard Summers, Sr.; as well as 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 14 th , at the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Allen, Oklahoma, and he was laid to rest at Allen Cemetery. Rev. Rick Adams was the officiating minister.

Pallbearers were Donald Byrd, Roger Byrd, Tommy Byrd, Richard Summers, Jr, Chris Grady, Scott Hall, Toby Byrd, and Taylor Byrd. Honorary Pallbearers were David Wayne Byrd, Danny Fuller, Jeff Hopkins, Nick Grady and Tanner Byrd.
