James Prince, 82, of Ada, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, August 2nd, 2020 in Ada.

James was born January 10, 1938 in Allen, Oklahoma to Scott and Pauline (Bailey) Prince. He grew up in the Allen area, attending Allen schools for eight years, and Atwood schools for four, graduating from Atwood in 1957.

James married Joann (Jaquess) Prince on July 1, 1967 in Durant, Oklahoma. They were married for 53 years.

James was a retired rancher and state field supervisor for the State Department of Agriculture. He inspected the peanuts and vegetable division.

James was an OU football fan, a Kansas City Royals baseball fan, a Kansas City Chiefs football fan, and an Atlanta Braves baseball fan. Aside from the professional teams, James also really liked his Allen Mustangs and Atwood Cowboys. James played on the Atwood 1956 baseball team. This team played in the state finals, losing to Arnett of Hollis and pitcher Von McDaniel, who signed and played for the St. Louis Cardinals. Mr. Prince coached and umpired little league baseball, which he enjoyed very much.

James lived in the southeast Oklahoma area his whole life. He moved from the Allen/Atwood area in 1960 to the Oil Center area, where he spent about seven years, then moving north of Roff for 20 years in the Lightning Ridge area, and eventually moving and spending the rest of his life in the Pickett community east of Ada.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Pauline Prince; father and mother in-law Haskel and Frances Jaquess; three brothers, Billy Scott Prince, Kenneth (Chic) Prince, and Randy Prince; one sister, Barbara Ruth Prince; brothers-in-law Elvin Jaquess, Steve Rhodd, Deeke Warren, and Sam A. Brown; and sisters-in-law Sue Jaquess, Kay Prince, and Lona Prince.

He is survived by his wife Joann of the home; son Michael and wife Amanda Prince of Palm Beach, Florida; daughter Lori Lynn (Prince) and husband Ray Maples of Edmond; four grandchildren Coleman Prince of North Carolina, Benjamin Prince of Palm Beach, and Logan and Brayden Maples of Edmond; one brother, Veldon (Vic) Prince of Texas; sisters Jackie Rodd of Tacoma, Washington and Flora Warren of Coalgate; sisters-in-law Linda Jaquess Brown and Diane Prince; a special ex-brother-in-law Tyrone Rauchert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for James Prince were held Wednesday, August 5 th , at 10:00 AM in the Estes-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Ada, with interment following at Swan Hill Cemetery in Ada.
