Services held for James Nickell

James Lee Nickell was born April 3, 1938, in Allen, Oklahoma to Arvil and LaVernia Nickell. He was the oldest of nine brothers and sisters.

He married Leota Mae Davidson on June 27, 1957, in Duncan, Oklahoma. They celebrated 65 years of marriage last month. Together they built a life at the lake, in their pool, and gathering with family and many friends.

James worked in the sheet metal industry from high school to retirement. He built everything from church steeples to little red wagons to gas tanks to baptistries. He was deeply loved and respected by all he knew, and he lived by faith and integrity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, two sisters and one brother.

James is survived by Leota, his wife of 65 years; son Stan and Cindy of St. Charles, Illinois, and daughter LaDonna and Mel Haworth of Moore; four grandchildren, Tim and Lauren (Nickell) Yoder of Seattle, Washington, Cam and Emily (Nickell) Adams of Pasadena, California, Jarod and Brooke (Nickell) Pletcher of St. Charles, Illinois and Cody Haworth of Moore, Oklahoma.

Funeral services were at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 1st , at Southgate Baptist Church, located at 740 SW 4 th St. in Moore, Oklahoma. Interment followed at Moore City Cemetery under the direction of John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore.
