Services held for Bob Hammonds

Robert Jack Hammonds was called home on December 30, 2022 surrounded by family at the age of 85, Bob was born in Allen on January 7, 1937 to Jack and Mabel (Allen) Hammonds. Bob married Patricia Ann Hayes on July 1, 1958. They were married for 64 wonderful years. Bob spent most of his time after he retired from truck driving making multiple trips to and from his garden. He loved watching basketball, eating Sunday dinner with family, attending his home church, the Atwood Baptist, and impatiently waiting on the next planting season. Bob served in the Oklahoma National Guard and U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Allen, Oklahoma and was a Deacon at Atwood Baptist Church.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mabel Hammonds; brother Tommy Joe Hammonds; infant sister; and infant grandson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Hammonds of the home in Atwood; son James Hammonds and wife Cindy of Gerty, son Robert Hammonds and wife Vertilla of Atwood, and daughter Amy Shed and husband Garland; five grandchildren, Jake and Nichole Hammonds, Jana McDonald and Steve Riddel, Paul Ward, Samantha Henry and husband Christian, and Nathan Hammonds; four great-grandchildren. Zoey McDonald, Tori Hammonds, Macey Pritchett and Lilayna Ward. Bob is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Services were 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Atwood Baptist Church with Pastor Darrell Brown officiating. Interment followed at Atwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons Jake, Paul, Nathan and Christian, and close friends Chris Merriman, Shane Wainscott, Hunter Boyd and Jim Searcy. Honorary pallbearers were T.G. Adamson, Robert Phillips, David Cranfield, Tom Turner, Bro. Keith Warren, Brian Iker, and Dennis Lawrence, and classmates Benny Prentice, Jim Allred, Eugene Sanders and Dwayne Tate.

Services were under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
