Service held for Connie Tatum

Connie Lynn Tatum, 59, of Stonewall, Oklahoma, entered Heaven on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Connie was born June 9,1962 in Holdenville to Earl and Lewanda Boyd.

Connie grew up in Allen and graduated from Allen High School in 1980. Connie also attended East Central University where she acquired her Masters Degree for early education. Connie was a teacher at McLish and Stonewall school where she taught for a total of 21 years.

Connie married the love of her life, Bill Tatum, on June 1, 1985. Connie and Bill loved the Lord and were true servants of God. Connie was always willing to help anyone and everyone she met.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Boyd and Lewanda Boyd; and a sister Earlean Boyd.

Connie is survived by her husband, Bill Tatum, of the home; son, Lance Tatum and his wife Amanda of Stonewall; son, Josh Tatum and his wife Kim of Calvin; two grandchildren, Brennan and Bella; sister Billye Potter and husband George of Iowa; sister Carol Jarrett and husband Eddie of Ada; brother Danny and wife Jessie of Allen; brother Eddie Boyd and wife Brenda of Gerty; and brother Dale Boyd and wife Sharon of Durant.

Connie was the epitome of a Christian. She spent her life doing God’s work. Whether it be teaching Sunday School, witnessing to friends, family, or complete strangers, spreading the gospel with her ministry God Story Ministries. praying with her students every day, or simply blessing someone who needed it. She was a true prayer warrior. And she loved to tell her “God stories.”

Connie was a teacher for 21 years. She taught 1 st grade at Stonewall elementary. She loved every child that passed through her classroom door. She invested in them, everything she had. She prayed with them and prayed for them. Once you were “one of her kids” you were always one of her kids. She loved when they would still stop in her room, to say hello, even after going off to high school. That’s the kind of teacher she was. She made a difference in all of their lives. Reading was her forte. It was her passion. She made sure each of her students could read, and enjoyed reading, before they left her room.

She loved to laugh. She was passionate. And she loved her family. All of it. Her blood family, her married family, her friends that were like family, and her work family. She loved big. You never saw her without a smile on her face. She was always up for an adventure. She could quote scripture but she also lived it!
