Mary Ann Jacobs Jones, age 83, passed away on November 26, 2021.

Born in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Tom and Mabel Jacobs, her family moved to Allen, Oklahoma in 1946 where she graduated from Allen High School in 1955. In high school, Mary Ann was quite the basketball player, a skill that came in handy later in life while playing H-O-R-S-E with her sons. While attending high school, she met the love of her life, Joe Edward (J.E.) Jones. In 1957, Mary Ann and J.E. married in Allen and moved to Texas. Mary Ann worked outside the home while raising her sons.

Upon retirement in 1985, Mary Ann and J.E. remained active, traveling to clock shows and attending MSU football and basketball games, especially enjoying women’s basketball. There were also memorable trips abroad to Germany and Paris. Mary Ann loved playing cards and is credited with teaching her 8 year old grandson how to play poker. She was a wonderful cook and loved hosting family meals that culminated in watching football, usually her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. Mary Ann was famous for her chocolate sheet cake, a treat J.E. would often take to his co-workers at SAFB.

Later in life Mary Ann and J.E.’s fitness regime included three days a week at The Zone. Through the years, Mary Ann maintained relationships with her high school classmates including annual reunion trips to Allen. Through her work and activities, she made life-long friends that remained close until her passing.

She is survived by her husband, J.E., and sister Carol Sue Pipkin of Corsicana, Texas. Her legacy includes sons Matt and Chris Jones, their wives, Mona and Pat, and her grandson, Blake.

A celebration of Mary Ann’s life will be held 10:00 am Saturday, December 11 th , in the First Baptist Church in Allen, Oklahoma.
