Arlis Jo Buck

A Memorial service for Arlis Jo Buck will be held at 1:00 PM Friday January 6th, at Harvest Time Church in Holdenville. Jimmie Anderson will officiate the service.

After a hard-fought battle through many illnesses, Arlis was called home by her heavenly father on the first day of 2023.

Arlis Jo Buck was born November 3, 1946 in Ada, Oklahoma to Arlie and Josey Gray Black. When Arlis was an infant her mother Josey passed away. Her paternal aunt Sallie Mae “Cacko” Hester and husband Ira Jack “Unckie” Hester adopted her into their loving home.

Arlis lived in Ada, Oklahoma until she married (J.W. “Corney” Buck) and they moved to Dallas, Texas where their three daughters were born. She made her final home in Holdenville where she raised a couple of grandchildren as well as a few of her great-grandchildren.

Early in her life she worked in her mother’s businesses including a nursing home and a restaurant. Other jobs Arlis had included customer service and care taking positions. Arlis loved people and enjoyed helping many who crossed her path.

Spending time with her family and friends was something Arlis enjoyed greatly. She never met a stranger. She loved drinking coffee and visiting with loved ones whether it be in person or over the phone. She also enjoyed attending gospel singings, taking road trips, going to (and having) garage sales and playing “Wahoo” with family members. She had many pets over the years and loved them all so much. Often she could be seen with her closest companion, her beloved dog “Gabby”.

Arlis was preceded in death by all of her parents, siblings Ronnie Black, Polly Black, Bubby Black, Jay Hester, Estelle Hudgins, nephew Joe Eppler, niece Ginger Boyd, nephew Buddy Hudgins and a special brother-in-law Rudy Eppler. The following survivors include her children, grand-children and great- grandchildren: Cheryl Buck, Kimberly Buck, Meesha Buck, Sarah Arredondo, Tarah Arredondo, Riah Rogers (T.J.), Trenton Sanchez-Buck, Jaebri Sanchez-Buck, Jazlyn Arredondo, Tatum Lee, Destiny Buck, Shelby Oney, Chainey Leftwich, Micah Leftwich, Kolton Rossman (Jessica), T. Leo Kusa, Kiana Lysinger, Nikiah Lysinger, Leiland Andrews, Bryson Andrews, Journie Andrews, Levi Wilkerson, Spencer Buckmaster and Rhythm Oney.

Also surviving are her sisters Tommie Black and Estalene Eppler and a host of family members including nieces, nephews and wonderful friends whom she loved dearly.
