I always enjoy the newsletter from Old Sweaty Life. The latest issue had a couple of great items.

Recently I ran across some interesting facts from 1947. That was the year I was born so I really enjoyed seeing what was going on that year.

Forty years ago, Dayna and I purchased The Allen Advocate from Virgil and Jackie Guy. It has been a great journey and we have made many lifelong friends. Had it not been for Wayne and Pat Bullard, Charles and Betty Spear and Eric Pierce, I don’t think we would have ever survived those early years.

I was going thru my files this past week to find some Easter items I wanted to share with our readers.

I recently read an article about ‘jukeboxes.’ It brought back a lot of memories. Dayna and I actually used to have one. I know several area cafes used to have one. In the ‘good ole’ days you could play one song for a nickel or 6 for 25 cents. Where did the jukebox journey begin?

“Religion and politics don’t mix.” I have been told that many, many times. Friend and enemy alike have argued the point.

I turned another year older St. Patrick’s Day. It seems that the older I get the more I enjoy it. One of my favorite pastors, Chuck Swindell once said, “there is something grand about old things that are still in good shape.” I agree.
