Service held for James Fortner

Services for James Kenneth Fortner, 84, of Lula are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14th, at Rocky Point Missionary Baptist Church; Burtis Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at Criswells.

Mr. Fortner passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Seminole. He was born June 17, 1940, in Lula to Short Fortner and Bea Brooks Fortner.

Mr. Fortner attended Lula School and was a brick mason and rancher until his retirement. On May 14, 1960, he married Patricia Davis. He was a longtime board member of the Lula Volunteer Fire Department and a long-time active member of Rocky Point Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; son, Kenneth Alan Fortner and wife Sheryl of Lula; three daughters, Tamara Kidney and husband Bill of Bonham, Texas, Pamela Sampson of Ada, and Shelley York and husband Robert of Owl Creek; sister, Joy Vaught of Wanette; eight grandchildren, Jared and Daniel Clifford, Ashley Crittenden and Lesley Seymour, Kody and Jordyn Thompson, and Jessika Boyd and Ryan York; and greatgrandchildren, Chase and Morgan Clifford, Emi and Everly Seymour, Kole and Ridlee Fortner, Jakus Boyd, Wyatt York, Beau Thompson, and Rylee Crittenden. He was preceded in death by his parents Short Fortner and Bea Fortner; brothers, Ellis Fortner, Dennis Fortner, and David Fortner; sister, Patsy Young; and great granddaughter, Ryan Clifford.
