Service held

for Velma Lyda

A memorial gathering for Velma Darlene Lyda, 71, of Ada was held Sunday, November 10th , at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center, Ada.

Mrs. Lyda passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at her home. She was born December 8, 1947 at Alamogordo, New Mexico to A. R. and Melba Kathryn (Burnett) East.

Mrs. Lyda had worked for General Tire Company.

Survivors include her companion, Kenneth “Hoot” Gibson; two sons, Joseph Lyda, and Kenny Lyda and wife Michelle, all of Ada; her grandchildren, Morgan Lewis, Sara Lyda, Celestial Lyda, Jamie Graham and Mariah Wyatt; a great-grandchild, Elyzabeth Lynn Turpin; and two sisters, Kathy East and Mary Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and a brother.

1:00 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Frank Trent will officiate. Burial will follow at McGee Cemetery, Stratford.

Mr. Weaver passed away Monday, November 11, 2019 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born March 18, 1944 at Allen to Jake and Carrie Lara-bee Weaver. He attended Spalding schools.

He married Gayle Blankenship November 6, 1964. Mr. Weaver was a truck driver and a member of the Byars Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle, of the home; a son, Steve Weaver of Stratford; and six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny Weaver; and a daughter, Cynthia Weaver.
