Elizabeth Cox Passes Away

Elizabeth Sue Cox, 74, peacefully passed away at her home in Ada, Oklahoma on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Elizabeth was the wife of Ron Cox. They shared 53 years of joyous and loving marriage.

Elizabeth was born in Durant, Oklahoma to her parents Billie and Geneva King. After being raised in Tishomingo, she moved to Ada, Oklahoma to pursue her education at East Central University where she later graduated with two bachelor degrees, one in Sociology and one in Family and Consumer Sciences.

During this time, Elizabeth was a valued member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, participated in many pageants, and was crowned the winner of Miss Sandbass Queen in 1966. She loved helping others and worked as an educator for over 12 years, eventually ending her prosperous career at OSU Extension.

She was an active member at The First United Methodist Church in Ada, and taught Sunday school there for many years. Elizabeth enjoyed reading, traveling, OU football, shopping, and making memories with her family and friends.

She will be remembered for her loving, kind and giving nature. She was well known for being the perfect hostess and invoking the Christmas spirit for her family. Elizabeth was an amazing friend and loved each one, dating back to her school days. Her family cherishes her dedication to them as well as her homemade meals, which were always delicious, always at the dinner table, and always at 6 o’clock.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, daughters Stacy Gray and her husband Robert of Allen, Oklahoma, and Brooke of Dallas, Texas, as well as her sons, Coty, of Denver, Colorado, and Kamron and his wife Marcy of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her much adored grandchildren, Dalton Jones, and Quaid and Karsyn Johnson.

Elizabeth was proceeded in death by her parents and brother, Johnny King.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the near future in Ada. Details will be announced via Facebook..
