August 22 has been set for the residents of Allen to hold citywide garage sales. Signs may be posted and/ or your sale can be listed in The Advocate for $3.00. To place your ad in the newspaper please call before noon on Wednesday, August 19 .

The U.S. Census Bureau is cutting its schedule for data collection for the 2020 census a month short as legislation that would have extended the national head count’s deadlines stalls in the U.S. Senate.

All 6 thru 12 graders, whether virtual or traditional, need to fill out and turn in enrollment papers and other forms. Enrollment forms are available on the school website: allenmustangs. org. Students new to Allen must fill out the OSSAA form also.

The annual tax-free shopping weekend begins tomorrow, Friday, August 7 , and runs through Sunday, the 9 . Oklahoma parents should be preparing their shopping lists to make sure they get everything their child needs for the new school year.

The July distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from May business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically.

A wetter than average summer has been good for area gardeners. Raylynn and Jack Melton have been kept busy harvesting and selling extra produce. Look for them at their house on the highway next to the Allen Vet Clinic.

Who is at Higher Risk?

The Big Five Head Start Program in collaboration with Allen Public Schools will be enrolling students for the 2020-2021 school year at Allen Elementary School on August 4-7, 2020 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. August 4 and 5 will be for new students enrolling in the PK3 and PK4 Program.

Daily Screenings

All students entering 6 through 12 grades in the Allen School system must register for 2020-21 school year. School will begin on August 20 .
