The annual tax-free shopping weekend begins tomorrow, Friday, August 7 ^th , and runs through Sunday, the 9 ^th . Oklahoma parents should be preparing their shopping lists to make sure they get everything their child needs for the new school year. But if you don’t have a child in school you can still cash in on the deals.

Exempt items include clothes and shoes but no one item can cost $100 or more, and actual school supplies like pens, pencils, folders and electronics like laptops and calculators are not tax free.

And don’t forget that tax free can apply to online shopping as well. The online store just has to be aware of the tax free weekend in Oklahoma. Some may honor it while others may not.

Coupons are allowed as well! Be careful though, while some coupons may bring the price under the $100 limit, some manufacturers do not allow an item’s price to be decreased to fit into the tax-free eligibility.

Tax-free weekend also includes layaway. However, the final payment must be made during the tax-free weekend. Unfortunately, raincheck items do not qualify.
