After the storm earlier in the month the hard job of clearing debris has begun. State officials from DEQ and FEMA were on site early in the process dictating where the town could stack the debris and how it was to be separated.

Area youngsters need to get their baskets ready for Allen’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. This year’s event, sponsored by the Allen Chamber of Commerce, will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 12th, in the Allen City Park. Rain date for the Egg Hunt will be Saturday, April 19th.

The Allen Masonic Lodge will be holding a Fish Fry dinner on Sunday, March 23rd. This is a fundraiser with money raised being used for local projects.

The Allen Academic Team participated recently in the Murray State College Interscholastic Meet. Congratulations to the local winners!

As the United States nears the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the Daughters of the American Revolution initiated Project 250 in commemoration.

The death penalty is being sought by Pontotoc County District Attorney Erik Johnson for Richard Dewayne Chambers. Chambers is accused of killing local residents Robert and Jackie Peliti at their home west of Allen in a December crime spree that began in Midwest City.
