Death Penalty Sought for Allen Couples Murder

Posted in:

The death penalty is being sought by Pontotoc County District Attorney Erik Johnson for Richard Dewayne Chambers. Chambers is accused of killing local residents Robert and Jackie Peliti at their home west of Allen in a December crime spree that began in Midwest City. “I believe that Richard Chambers is a continuing threat to society,” Johnson said. “I believe that based upon that fact that he killed Annie Brown in Midwest City, crossed jurisdictional lines, and came to Pontotoc County and killed Robert and Jackie Peliti. That act alone warrants the highest punishment that my office can provide.” According to Johnson, this is the first death penalty that’s been sought in Pontotoc County in more than 20 years.

Chambers, 42, is also accused of killing Annie Brown, 62, in Midwest City and taking her car before coming to Pontotoc County.

Chambers is charged with three counts of first-degree murder, deliberate intent patten of criminal offenses; and larceny of an automobile. Oklahoma County is allowing Brown’s murder to be prosecuted along with the Peliti deaths.

The incident occurred in December 2024.
