Rites held for Alberta Milner

Services for Alberta Ann Milner, 87, of Ada were 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 3rd, at the First Free Will Baptist Church; Dr. Steve Turner officiated. Burial followed at Allen Cemetery.

Mrs. Milner passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in Ada. She was born June 7, 1938, in Allen to Richard Arnold and Thelma Marie Jones Phillips.

She graduated from Allen High School in 1956. On June 25, 1956 she married Rondel De Milner. They spent 63 years together until his death in 2019. Mrs. Milner was an insurance clerk for a local insurance agency until her retirement.

Survivors include her two daughters, Penny Turner and husband Steve of Ada and Sherri Pettigrew and husband Jeff of Norman; two brothers, Arnold Phillips, Jr. and wife Linda of Stanton, Texas and David Phillips and wife Carolyn of Allen; six grandchildren, Matt Turner and wife Kelley, Tim Turner and wife Aleisha, Preston Pettigrew and wife Sarah, Peyton Swearingin and husband Denver, Paige Greenway and husband Gabe, and Price Pettigrew; and six greatgrandchildren, Connor and Chloe Turner, Everley and Baylor Greenway, and Sutton and Forest Swearingin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; parents; and sister, Nancy McDougal.

Bearers were Matt Turner, Tim Turner, Preston Pettigrew, Price Pettigrew, Denver Swearingin, and Gabe Greenway.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staffs of Kyrie Assisted Living and Choice Hospice.

Services for Jessie Sue Boyd, 74, of Allen, was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6th, at the Allen School Auditorium, with Rev.

Bobby Briggs officiating.

Mrs. Boyd passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in Allen. She was born on October 5, 1950, in Belleville, Illinois, to Frank Spitler and Wanda (Gray) Spitler.

On July 3, 1971, she married the love of her life, Danny Boyd, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years. Together, they raised a family and shared a passion for riding motorcycles — an activity that brought her great joy and freedom.

They also raised horses and cattle throughout their years in Allen, in addition to raising their two children, April and Travis.

A devoted caregiver and nurturing soul, Mrs. Boyd was the proud owner and operator of a home daycare, which she ran for over 30 years, earning a reputation known widely as Meme Sue. Through this work, she became a guiding presence in the lives of countless children and families, forming bonds that lasted far beyond childhood. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched with patience, compassion, and love.

Mrs. Boyd is survived by her son, Travis Boyd of Allen; her daughter, April Whitehead of Allen; her brother, Gary Pannell; and her beloved grandchildren, Colton Howard, Caden Howard, and Grasyn Whitehead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Wanda Spitler; her husband, Danny Boyd; and her brother, Mike Pannell.

Pallbearers were Colton Johnson, Grey Sanders, Cody Wainscott, Caden Howard, Colton Howard, Kylan Sanders, and Jim Melton.

Meme Sue will be remembered for her generous spirit, her dedication to children, and the deep love she had for her family and community. There wasn’t a ballgame or event she wasn’t packed and ready to attend, complete with snacks, blankets, and a plethora of Hot Hands for the kids. Her unending faith and love will live on in the lives she has touched all these years.
