A new council member was sworn in Monday at the Allen City council meeting. April Whitehead takes the reigns from Joy Anderson.

The usual business of approving minutes and claims out of the way. Guest David Jones questioned condition of the drainage and medians on Broadway. After a discussion on the matter it was said that we are in the process of getting some summer help to help keep up with the mowing and weeding and making some progress on drainage.

After a long executive session to discuss employees the board returned to regular session.

The Police report stated they had cases of forgery, vandalism, fi ghts, reckless driving in town and on the highway, a pursuit and instances of suspicious people and vehicles, medical calls, lost property, shots fired, a disturbance, alarm and impounded 3 vehicles.

There were 4 arrests one on a warrant and 3 DUS and a total of 30 citations written.

The fire truck that was stuck during a grass fi re was retrieved and the engine is ready to pick up from the repair shop.

During the business discussion topics covered were clean up letter progress, the possibility of hiring/acquiring summer help. Efforts are underway to get the pool ready but right now every time we drain it to clean and paint it it rains and fills back up. We are also on the lookout for a pool manager and life guards so anyone interested please apply at city hall.

On the topic of the clean up, the community dumpster will be placed on the east side of the fi re station. Please us this opportunity to get rid of the trash and debris we have accumulated. The Allen FFA has offered to help people who need a little help loading and unloading their items. We will get a time frame for that in the mean time if you need help just get ahold of someone at city hall and they will get you on a list. And if you have a neighbor who needs some help, consider helping out, it will do you both some good. The dumpster will stay in this location throughout the month of May.

Due to a major sewer line problem on Lexington the town has applied for an emergency grant from the Oklahoma Water Resources board. At this time the line is fl owing but will cause many problems as the time goes by.
