Trey Irby is our choice for Hughes County Associate District Judge

Vast Legal experience will benefit county

Posted in:

On Tuesday, November 6th, Hughes County voters will elect a new Associate District Judge. We hope they will join us and cast their vote for Trey Irby.

There are several reasons why our family supports Trey, and I would like to share just a few.

First and foremost, his experience and work ethic. After putting himself through law school and graduating near the top of his class, Trey opened  his own law firm that he has owned and operated since 2003. He has an incredible amount of experience in a wide range of legal areas, including extensive trial experience across the state and in multiple tribal courts. As one of Hughes County’s most active trial lawyers, he has represented thousands of clients and tried hundreds of cases, both to a Jury and Judge. He has long served as an advocate for abused and neglected children in Hughes County, as well as vulnerable elderly adults and those with mental health problems. Trey does considerable pro-bono work, and he has never withdrawn from a case because the client did not have money to pay.

He has over a decade of Judicial Experience, having served as Judge for the City of Holdenville nine years and the Town of Calvin for twelve. As a Judge, Trey is known for starting his dockets on time and rendering fair decisions quickly. He is known for his positive demeanor as well as fully hearing from all sides of an issue and the application of the law equally to everyone. He has been a member of the Oklahoma Municipal Judge’s Association for twelve years, and has regularly attended their judicial training in addition to his other educational obligations.

Througth the camping, they has continued to fullfill his professional,  ethical and judicial duties full-time. He has never missed or continued a hearing, nor has he cancelled any dockets for campaign purposes. Even though this has been one of the busiest times of his life, he is commited to service first, both to his  clients and to the county.

Like his parents and grandparents, Trey is active in civic and charitable service. He is a longtime member of Kiwanis and the Chamber of Commerce. He served many years on the board of the Twin Rivers Head Start Program, and he has always supported various local groups from our schools to our senior citizens, even  before running for office.

Secondly, I want to tell you about his family.

Four generations of Irbys have called Hughes County their home. Three generations have attended school here, gone to college to obtain their Doctorates, and returned to serve the county they love and the people they care about. Trey and his wife, Candice, are proud that their three daughters will be the fourth generation to graduate from Hughes County schools.

I was there the day Bob and Carol brought Trey home, and I celebrate with them every year both on his birthday and the day he was adopted. I have watched this young man live his life with honesty, truthfulness, and a desire to help others. In fact, on his way to becoming an Eagle  Scout, he started the first library for Senior Citizens Center in Holdenville.

I am well aware of his acacdemic excellence, but even more than that, I admire his common sense and positive attitude. Whether in his daily life, or during this campaign, you will never hear him utter a negative word about others. I am proud of his 100% positive campaign. This is a young man I admire greatly. He is an outstanding citizen, and he will make an outstanding Associate District Judge. I hope you will join me Tuesday and cast your vote for Trey Irby.

Thank you,
