Recently I was watching the Emmys on television and they called out the name of Betty White and asked for her to come forward.

I was living in California in the late 1940s when I saw my first television show. A neighbor bought the first television set that I ever saw. She had small children and after school, many days, she would invite their friends to come to their house to watch the programs with her children. One of the first programs I remember from those days, was an afternoon talk show and Betty White was one of the members of the team.
