Threads of Life
Mother
Everything I am I owe to my mother. She was so wise and I give her all the credit. Your mothers may have taught you some of the things I learned throughout all the years. Here are a few of the things she taught me.
My mother taught me LOGIC. “Because I said so, that’s why.”
Then she taught me more LOGIC. “If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you’re not going to the store with me.”
My mother taught me FORESIGHT. “Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you are in an accident.”
My mother taught me IRONY. “Keep crying and I’ll give you something to cry about.”
My mother taught me to appreciate a job well done. “If you are going to kill each other, do it outside. I just fi nished cleaning.”
My mother taught me about CONTORTION-ISM. “Will you look at that dirt on the back of your neck?”
My mother taught me about STAMINA. “Just sit there until all of that food is gone.”
My mother taught me about WEATHER. “This room of your looks as if a tornado went through it.”
My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY. “If I have tole you once, I’ve told you a million times. Don’t exaggerate.”
My mother taught me about WISDOM. “When you get to be my age, you’ll understand.”
I have more of the wisdom my mother taught me; however, I’ll save it until a later date.
Happy Mother’s Day.
