Tax Receipts Up Locally

to $1,668,972.63 from $1,660,822.73; Atwood received $697.44, up from $562.19; Calvin receipts were $13,556.01, up from $10,610.50; Francis posted $2,813.97 up from $1,394.78; and Gerty posted $193.60 compared to $146.28 last year.

Holdenville dropped to $275,240.87 compared to $288,235.30 last year.

Both local counties, Hughes and Pontotoc, reported nice gains. Hughes received $189,571.79 this year compared to $154,606.30 in 2022; Pontotoc County reported $532,259.76 up from $485,198.86 last year.

Use Tax receipts, money earned from purchases made from out-of-state merchants (i.e. online purchases), also increased in Allen. The February 2023 receipts totaled $5,417.54 compared to $5,194.07 in 2022.

Ada also reported an increase, receiving $257,777.92 compared to $232,379.97 last year. Holdenville increased to $49,190.34 from $37,796.77.

Calvin dropped in their Use Tax revenue reporting $3,185.29, down from $4,573.65 last year.

This is the first year for Francis and Gerty to collect Use Tax but each reported good earnings. Francis received $1,138.13 and Gerty earned $118.95. Atwood still does not collect Use Tax.

The two counties also posted gains. Hughes County received $38,492.93 compared to $22,935.31 last year. Pontotoc County’s receipts totaled $104,289.37 compared to $94,849.16 in 2022.
