Posted in:

T a x - F r e e Weekend, or Sales Tax Holiday returns to Oklahoma this upcoming weekend. The state sales tax of 4.5%, as well as county and municipal taxes (which vary) will be waived the first weekend in August for Oklahoma shoppers. The Sales Tax Holiday allows shoppers to purchase certain items such as school supplies, art supplies, clothing, and certain electronic devices without having to pay sales tax on it. T a x - F r e e Weekend in Oklahoma will run from Friday, August 4 to Sunday, August 6. It allows the following:

· Clothing and footwear if the sales price is less than one hundred dollars $100 per item

· Clothing accessories and equipment if the sales price is less than fifty dollars $50 per item

· School supplies

· School art supplies

· School instructional materials All retailers are required to participate in the holiday and may not charge tax on items that are tax-exempt. You can shop however you’d like (online, retail locations, layaway, etc.) as long as you order, the retailer accepts the order, and you completely pay for the items before the end of the tax-free weekend.
