The Allen Police had an eventful Month responding to missing juvenile, several medical calls, vandalism, lost property, shots fired, recovery of stolen property, DHS calls, alarm calls and 2 EOD (medical order of detention) transports and impounded 4 vehicles. Thirty two citations were written with 6 speeding, 4 driving under suspension, 1 child endangerment, 2 expired tag, 2 possession of drug paraphernalia, 3 petty larceny, 2 felony eluding, and one each of Possession of CDS (meth), Public intox, seatbelt, operating without being licensed, failure to maintain lane, possession of stolen property, destruction of public property, attempted assault with deadly weapon, resisting arrest, reckless driving, failure to stop at stop sign, reckless endangerment.
A discussion was held about the pursuit that had recently occurred in town. Both sides agreed we learned some things from that ordeal that will make us better prepared if the situation ever occurs again.
It was decided that the first week of May the town will host a Spring cleaning. Plans are being made to provide the citizens a place to get rid of many unwanted items. A list of dumpster locations will be published as soon as the arrangements can be made. On that note abatement letters will be sent soon to property owners who need to clean and dispose of garbage in their area. This includes junk cars.
The Public works meeting was held. Doug Stinson stated they are getting ready to replace some water meters throughout town in an effort to get ready for the electronic readers.
The Oklahoma Water Resources Board asked that we withdraw a Stream Water Application that was fi led in 1968 for the Parker Reservoir that was never created. Board members agreed and stated we could always reissue if the need ever arrives.
After the meeting Joy Anderson was presented with a plaque and cake. The April meeting was her last as she chose not to run for re-election this term. No one loves Allen, Oklahoma more than Joy and we will all miss her enthusiasm. We are all excited to have April Whitehead join the council and bring her voice and ideas to the forum.
