Service Friday for Kathy Guyton

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathy Brown Guyton of Allen, formerly of Ada, on November 12, 2025. It gives much comfort to know she is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 21st, at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada. Her Pastor, Pastor Mark Barnes and friend, Pastor Mike Gross will officiate.
Born November 7, 1956, to Stillman (Bunny) Brown and Kathleen Campbell Brown in Ada, Oklahoma, she joined brothers Bobby Brown and Randal Brown. She attended and later joined First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ada where she taught Sunday School, was a substitute pianist and music director. She also assisted with the church youth department and Bible School. Later, she served as the Missions Director. Kathy also attended Byng Free Will Baptist Church.
Kathy attended Ada Public Schools going from Willard Elementary to Ada Junior High and graduating from Ada High in 1974. She was a member of the Junior Honor Society, Science, Latin and Math Clubs. Her love for music led her to play the flute, French horn, and mellophone in the Ada High Band. She was also listed in Who’s Who in American High School.
After high school, she attended East Central State University graduating with a degree in Medical Technology. She was also a member of the East Central Band, and listed on the Dean’s Honor Roll.
Kathy completed her internship at Valley View Hospital subsequently becoming an employee at Valley View as a medical technologist from 1979-1981. March 1981, she became a Federal Employee at Carl Albert Indian Hospital working as a generalist in medical technology, and then in 1995 she became Senior Medical Technologist in Microbiology. Kathy served on the Infection Control Committee and continued her education attending multiple conferences and seminars. December 1, 2011, she retired from Carl Albert Indian Hospital. Then, she resumed working at Valley View (Mercy Ada) from 2012 to 2016.
In 1978, she was blessed by the birth of her son, Sean Hallmark during a short-lived marriage. She was very active in Sean’s church and extracurricular activities.
On October 2, 2002, she married the love of her life, Eric (Rick) Guyton. They made their home in Ada, eventually moving to Allen, where she attended Allen Church of God in Prophecy for a short time. Kathy then found her church family at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, Allen.
She was also a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of Allen where she made wonderful friends.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Rick; son, Sean and wife Jennifer of Tulsa, granddaughter Katherine (Katie), of Tulsa; Eric Guyton, Jr. and Celeste Pena, of San Antonio, Texas, grandchildren Eric III and Eleanor of San Antonio; and Erin Guyton of Allen. She is also survived by her sisterin- law, Sandy (Bobby) Brown of Broken Bow; four nephews and five nieces and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews plus a great-great-niece and nephews. She also leaves behind close friends, Vickie Bess, Lynn NcNeill, and Sherry Shelton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers.
In lieu of flowers Kathy requested donations be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
