COVID-19 has changed the world as we know it. People are unable to gather in groups and holidays are being celebrated virtually.

This will include the end-of-semester activities at the Allen Elementary. Plans are being made to combine each class’ singing into a program to share on-line with parents, family and friends. We hope to be able to let you know when that is available for viewing.

The same, if possible, is planned for the AHS Christmas Band Concert. Again, we hope to give you notice when it is available for viewing.

All basketball games have been cancelled through the end of semester. The Mustangs had to drop out of the Pontotoc Conference Tournament this week and cancel the two away games scheduled for December 15 ^th (Stratford) and 18 ^th (Roff). Other area schools are being hit as well as Tupelo and Stonewall had to bough out of the tournament due to Covid quarantines.

The school is receiving parental calls about students and staff testing positive and classmates being placed in quarantine. Currently about 50 students are out on quarantine doing virtual learning.

Mr. Hiatt, Allen Superintendent, said, “This is currently affecting mostly the high school. We’ve been hit hard but plan to stay in school as long as safely possible.”
