Rites Thursday for Harold Fariss

Harold Wayne Fariss, a member of the East Main Church of Christ, and a lifelong resident of Holdenville, Oklahoma, passed away on August 2, 2026 at the age of 87.

Harold was born on February 25, 1939, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to Leon and Caryolee Cherry Fariss. He grew up in the Non and Atwood communities and graduated high school from Gerty. He then attended college at East Central University in Ada and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Throughout his career as an educator, Harold touched the lives of countless students with his kindness, patience, and commitment to helping others.

Harold married his best friend Patty Sartors Fariss on May 28, 1966, and they enjoyed 60 years together. He is survived by his wife Patty of the home; his children, Monica Hamme and husband Karl of Ft Myers. Florida, Lori Ramsey and husband Dale of Holdenville, Megan Giles and husband Stephen of Holdenville, David Fariss and wife Marylynn of Denison, Texas, and Chris Fariss and wife Kariss of Durant. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and a host of relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Caryolee Fariss, and his cherished sisters: Joy Daniel and Barbara Fariss. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6th, at East Main Church of Christ in Holdenville with Casey LaValley officiating assisted by Luke Yates. Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery. Pallbearers are his grandsons. Honorary pallbearer is Tucker Giles. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.
