Doris Ann Cook passed away in Ada, Oklahoma on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the age of 73 years.

Doris was the daughter of Melvin Stanley Willard and Ola Lee (Linder) Willard, born on March 23, 1949, in Tulare, California. Both her parents passed away when Doris was very young, and she was brought up from the age of nine by Raymond and Kate Peters.

When she was eleven the family moved from California to the C-Bar community near Gerty, Oklahoma, where she attended Gerty schools until they closed down. She transferred to Calvin schools and graduated Calvin High School with the Class of 1967, then attended beauty college in Ada. She was married to Vernon Cook on March 19, 1970, in Durant, Oklahoma.

Doris lived in the Gerty/ Calvin area nearly all her life. She worked for many years for the Gerty New Age Senior Citizens Program, both at the senior citizens center and as food delivery driver. She loved any kind of shopping, in stores, thrift stores, and online. She loved jewelry and casinos. What she loved most in the world was just spending time with her grandchildren. She was much loved and will be sorely missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Ola Lee Willard, and by her parents who raised her from childhood, Raymond and Kate Peters; three sisters: Donna Mooney, Joy Walkup, and Laquitta Kaiser; and one brother, Benny Wayne Willard.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Vernon Cook, of the home; her daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Joe Clower of Holdenville; three grandchildren: Lewis Black Blankenship, and Brittany Blevins (Kolby), all of Ada, and Mayson Carpitcher of Holdenville; one greatgranddaughter, Katie Rae Blevins of Ada; two sisters, Ola Mirrell and Carolyn West, both of California; nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
