Pursuit Leads to Arrest

Posted in:

Flashing lights and sirens disturbed the peace of our small town Friday night, March 22nd , as a police chase screamed down Broadway several times, circled around County Line Road, up Commerce, down Camper Road, through the Allen Quick Pic parking lot, and on Highways 1 and 48, as well as numerous residential streets with speeds up to an estimated 90 mph.

Starting about 8:30 pm when the Allen police observed a white fl atbed driving recklessly, it was over an hour before the suspect was arrested and transported to the Pontotoc County Justice Center.

Identified as Sean Taylor, the driver of the fl atbed was also the suspect of an incident a few nights earlier.

This chase, conducted by two Allen offi cers as well as representatives of the Chickasaw Lighthorse, Pontotoc County sheriff’s office, Hughes County sheriff’s office, and the Wildlife 409 department, ended when Taylor pulled into the driveway at his residence on A Street. He exited his vehicle and was ordered to turn around and put his hands in the air. Failing to do so, Taylor was hit with a couple of rounds from a pepper ball gun and then subdued by a Lighthorse and county officers along with the Wildlife offi cer.

Taylor was placed in the rear seat of an officer’s vehicle where he continued to resist arrest by kicking the cage, cussing and screaming, wanting to know what was going on and why he was handcuffed. He was booked into the Pontotoc County Justice Center at approximately 9:52 pm and charged with Driving Under Suspension, Child Endangerment, Felony Eluding, Failure to Maintain Lane, Expired Tag, Speeding, Failure to Stop at Stop Signs, Destruction of Public Property, Affixing Unauthorized License Plate to Vehicle to Conceal Identity, Attempted Assault with Deadly Weapon, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangerment.

The impound sheet on the truck includes in its list a six-pack of Michelob Ultra beer found on the front passenger seat along with a metal fl ask of liquid, and a bottle of Budweiser in the back seat. A wrecker from was called to impound the vehicle.
