Open Letter From The Allen Superintendent

Posted in:

Allen Public Schools has had a support staff member test positive for COVID-19. The staff member was at school on Monday, October 26 th . The health department was contacted and the staff member was sent home and will remain home until it is safe for them to return to school.

Upon learning of the positive COVID-19 test result, Allen Public Schools contacted the Pontotoc County Health Department and contact tracing was started. The students that were in direct contact with this employee have been sent home for quarantine and parents contacted. The health department has been involved with our school throughout this whole process.

We have seen an uptick in local positive

COVID-19 tests in the Allen area. At this time we have numerous students on quarantine from exposure outside of the school. We ask you to continue to monitor your children and if they are sick or show any symptoms to keep them home. Please continue to social distance. Right now we need to be extra careful as we continue to keep our school open.

We will continue to keep you updated the best we can. If you have any questions please contact Amy Mayhue, elementary principal, Chris Grimm, JH/HS principal or myself. Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Jeff Hiatt

Superintendent

Allen Public Schools
