COVID-19 - Trump's mount st. Helen's eruption?
Covid-19 — Trump’s At my age I’ve seen a lot of things happen. One of the things happened 40 years ago. Mount St. Helen erupted. Wow! What a mess that was but I would not be surprised if more than a few have no knowledge of it. It really impressed me. Dumping ash all over the USA— even here in Oklahoma. It was unforgettable. Well almost. Now we have COVID-19. Easy to spell and affecting us all.
This calamity would have been welcomed by me when I was in the 5 th grade. Getting out of school. Made to go home. But wait. Having to stay at home? Also, when I was in the 5 th grade there was no TV. Not in Stonewall. No sir! So, I would have been agitating for the Longhorns to open those doors. Which brings me to the next big thought. When do we open everything here in Pontotoc County?
All of us are (by now) moaning and groaning under our new lives. Lives being lived without schools and churches. Thank goodness the bars and tattoo shops have reopened. Except we do not have one here in Allen. But we are enjoying our stores and barbershops— beauty shops, other stores opening. But still, no for sure word on when we start going into sports events and back to church. My own doctor told me to stay out of crowds—church included. Said I was “immune compromised” by my recent heart problems.
No Corona virus vaccine is yet available and may not be for several months. Until it is, I am afraid the world is just going to operate a lot different. Church leaders across America (studying the cobwebs gathering in the collection plates) are giving it a lot of thought. A very few have barged ahead saying things like “God can handle anything, even COVID-19” and have met right through the pandemic. But at least one pastor called his church in on Mother’s Day where 180 gathered. But the next day one worshiper fell ill with the virus throwing Butte County California into a financial dither. The whole bunch of 180 and all their contacts of course, had to be tested. County officials mad as “heck” throwing the whole decision of them having church Mother’s Day into a community discussion. The church is in Palermo. And now Butte County is in a financial mess. No word on how far the COVID has advanced.
President Trump, not to be outsmarted by a horned virus started taking hydroxychloroquine, a malaria drug about two weeks ago. He says it might keep him free of this virus and says since he started taking it, he feels better. His advisers and “Virus Committee” all quickly groaned and told him to not take it. But to no one’s surprise, the President ignored them. Doctors fear that the drug can cause serious heart rhythm problems and worry for the President’s health. It was said that news of the President’s self-medicating caused much alarm at Fox News but over at CNN, not so much.
Much worry last week over fears of meat, milk, and egg shortages. Not to worry. Farmers were reportedly smashing eggs, dumping milk and hog farmers slaying hogs. However, further investigations showed that it was done out of necessity due to over production and practical considerations. I will let someone explain that to the hogs. Eggs? Well I have plenty of eggs. So far.
Due to people being scared off from doctor’s offices, kids are not getting their MMR shots and things of that sort. So now the government is concerned about us having an outbreak of measles. This could be about as deadly as the COVID. Now doctors (many of whom are sitting idled by this COVID) are urging patients to come on in and take care of this business. Thousands of hospital staff, members of clinics and so forth have been laid off due to lack of business during this deadly pandemic. How ironic.
I like hearing from you. My email is at the bottom of this piece. And I hope all my readers continue to take care of themselves. And if you have medical or dental needs go ahead and see about getting them taken care of. Some things should not wait.
