Greetings from Allen Public Schools! There has been a lot of activity lately and many things are going on. The Ag students have been doing great with their livestock projects, placing well at the Tulsa Fair and several of the students have been working with Parliamentary Procedure contests as well. It looks like the Football team is heading for the playoffs and the elementary has already started basketball games with both boys and girls finishing as runners-up in the Pontotoc County Tournament this week. We received a report this week that the Bond Project is proceeding on schedule for the most part, and that is good news, particularly with the rainy weather we have been experiencing.

As for myself, most of you are aware that I have had several medical setbacks over the course of the past year and am currently seeking medical treatment. My ailments are chronic and serious in nature and my doctors have asked me to begin to reduce my stress wherever I can to lessen potential relapses and hasten recovery as much as possible. In addition, some of my medications are still being adjusted and that is an obstacle too. It is with that in mind that I have announced my retirement to the board of education as of June 30, 2019 and have resigned effective that date.

I am proud of our accomplishments during my time here and will hold a fond spot in my heart for Allen and its students for the rest of my days. I had thought that I might have more time and energy to give, but my health and even more recently, the health of my wife, have forced me to think a bit differently. I appreciate the prayers that have come our way and I have enjoyed my time here in Allen and will continue to work in the best interests of our students while I am here. I wish the district all success in the future.
