News from Allen Public School
Greetings to Allen Public School patrons, we now have a couple of weeks of school under our belts and there is a lot going on!
Enrollment appears to be up a little bit over last year and our teachers are working diligently to get their students used to their new schedules and routines. Teachers are also working very hard incorporating the new textbooks and curriculum alignment into their Language Arts and Math classrooms as they arrive. Several HS/JH teachers and almost all elementary teachers are affected by this change and they are doing a great job with this along with everything else they are asked to do. This is a lot of work and I appreciate it.
Fastpitch softball has been doing quite well this fall and is now ranked #4 in the state. They racked up an exciting, come from behind win against Stonewall Monday evening and had one of the largest crowds I had ever seen at our fi eld!
Football is underway with the Junior High and 9th grade picking up impressive wins against North Rock Creek and the High School has its first non-conference game against Tishomingo here this Friday night the 31st . I’m also looking forward to the band and their new music that they have been working on. Please come out and support the Mustangs!
The building projects are progressing and the superstructure of the gymnasium should begin going up soon. The pads have been prepared at the elementary and junior high sites and progress should be seen there soon as well.
Again, I want to thank the teachers, and community for their help in these projects. There has been quite a bit of adjustment for teachers, parents and students alike with all the construction going on and they are taking it all in stride, which is much appreciated.
On a personal note, I have been encouraged by the many well wishes while the doctors continue to get my medical condition under control. Just like everyone else dealing with chronic illnesses, I have good days and bad days and am doing my best to keep the interference at a minimum and do my best for Allen Public Schools.
