The Allen Nutrition Site is pleased to introduce the new site manager and cook, Dava Beck and LaVonda Williams.

Dava was born in Allen; she grew up and attended several schools in the area, graduating from Latta High School, then attending East Central University. After retiring from her position with the largest book, music and movie distributor in the United States and Canada, she returned to Allen to be closer to family. For the past few years Dava has shared her love of cooking by doing a meal service, dava’s fine foods. Her plans are to continue that service along with her new position of manager at the Allen Nutrition Site.

LaVonda makes her home east of Gerty. She is a graduate of Calvin High School and attended East Central University before earning her degree in baking from OSU Okmulgee. She has had experience in restaurant cooking, catering, and the fast food service.

Both ladies were looking for a way to serve and be a greater part of the Allen area. They are pleased to have this opportunity to share their talents the local community.

The Allen Nutrition Site is a part of the SODA Area on Aging program and is funded under an Older Americans Act grant. Menus are set by a registered dietician but changes are made as needed due to availability of food items. The Site has been closed for inhouse eating since the COVID restrictions were put in place last year. It is hoped that they will be able to reopen with federal approval in July.

Lunches are available for seniors, ages 60+, and also for a younger care-giver in the same household. There is a suggested donation of $2 for seniors; guests under 60 are required to pay $4.50 per meal. Daily reservations are needed so the Site will know how much to prepare. Those wishing to have meals should apprise the staff ahead of their needs or are asked to call (580) 857-2803 prior to 9:00 am of the current day. Meals may be picked up between 11:00 am and 12:00 noon.
