On a night where the seniors will be honored, the Allen Mustangs will be battling to remain in the chase to extend their season. The Mustangs are currently sitting in a two-way tie with Mounds for the coveted 4th place spot in District A-6. “The next two games are so important, since the beginning of the season one of our goals is to make the playoffs and we are just a couple of wins away from securing our spot,” said Coach Matt McCreary. The Hartshorne Miners come to town sitting in 3rd place and winning 30-8 over Konawa last week. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.

Both Allen and Hartshorne feature a strong passing offense, with the wet weather the key to the game might come down to ball security. “A slippery football can bounce a lot of different ways; we have worked this week a lot on keeping the ball in our possession.”

Last Friday the Mustangs won the homecoming battle with Savanna 4812. Allen had an impressive 406 yards of offense compared with Savanna’s -2 yards. Freshman Ethan Smith picked up some valuable playing time carrying the ball 11 times for 41 yards. Garret Nix was the first to score for Allen on a 14 yards run, Curt Carlos dove in for the extra point. Bodee Garrett scored on a rushing touchdown and connected with Brayden Tatum for a 37-yard pass.

The second half some of the younger kids got into the scoring column. Noah Bray and Ethan Smith found the endzone in the third quarter. A bright spot for Savanna was a 97yard kick-off return.
