The Allen Mustangs battled hard Friday night, but lost to the Liberty Tigers, 29-20.

Allen received the ball first and drove the field for a touchdown when junior Shawn Husband ran it in from 39 yards out. The following twopoint conversion failed, however.

The Tigers quickly responded with a touchdown of their own, and, after a successful PAT, went up 7-6.

However, with four minutes to go in first quarter, the Liberty punter stepped out of the end zone resulting in a safety, making it 8-7, Mustangs.

And that was all the scoring in the first quarter.

However, Liberty was the only team to score in the second quarter -- a 40-yard rushing TD. The PAT kick was no good, however, making the score going into halftime 13-8, Liberty.

Second Half

The Mustangs used the third quarter to not only stay in the game but pull ahead for a while.

Liberty received the ball after halftime, but the team’s drive stalled, and they were forced to punt.

After starting a drive on Liberty’s 43 yard line, Allen moved the ball down the field and quickly scored on a 10-yard rush by Shawn Husband.

The two-point conversion failed, however, and the score remained 14-13, Allen.

Liberty’s ensuing drive again failed, and they were forced to punt.

The Mustangs scored immediately when freshman Brayden Tatum -- playing quarterback in place of Garrett Nix who is injured -- kept the ball and rushed in from 35 yards out. The score was 20-13, Allen, after an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt.

However, that was the end of Allen’s scoring, and the Tigers went on to score a touchdown with under a minute left in the third, then got a safety early in the fourth, and eventually scored a touchdown and twopoint conversion with about three minutes left in the game to make the final score 29-20, Liberty.

The Mustangs (3-3/1-2) will next play Stroud (1-3/0-0) tonight at home. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
