Mark Legg, Allen Nutrition Site Citizen of the Week
Mark Legg was selected as this week’s Citizen of the Week at the Allen Nutrition Site.
Mark and his wife, Robyn, moved to Allen in 2009 to take on the pastorate of the local Church of Christ. He served as their pastor until 2018 when the couple retired to the east end of town where he now raises a large garden and keeps a number of chickens. The Leggs have 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren.
Raised on a farm in northwest Oklahoma, in Craig County he attended school in Centralia and recalls his high school team taking on the Atwood baseball team in the State Tournament one year. His team took the loss and he credits that to having a Legg on the mound for Atwood as well as a Legg pitching for the Centralia team.
The Leggs came to Allen from El Reno where they had served for 20 years; prior to that he served in several Oklahoma communities and was a missionary to Zimbabwe, Africa for 11 years, from 1963 to 1974.
Marks says he enjoys eating at the Allen Nutrition Site and especially enjoys the fellowship. As Senior of the Week he received a gift certificate to the Allen Food Center.
The Allen Nutrition Site is located at 206 Highway 1E and serves lunch weekdays from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. Anyone 60 year of age or over is invited to join them. The meal is served free of charge but a $2 donation is suggested and appreciated. Site Manager Dava Beck asks that you call the day prior or before 9:00 a.m. that day to make reservations so they will know how many meals to prepare. The Site phone number is (580) 857-2803.
