Margaret Johnson Citizen of the Week
This week’s Senior Citizen of the Week is Margaret Johnson.
Margaret moved to Allen from Spaulding as a teenager and started attending AHS her sophomore year. She graduated in the Class of 1958.
Margaret states that she loves Allen, it’s home and we all know “there’s no place like home.” She enjoys watching the Mustangs play sports. She likes them all but basketball is her favorite. And speaking of basketball, Margaret is a Thunder fan and enjoys attending their games when possible. She also enjoys traveling with friends.
Margaret has two sons, Jimmy lives in Ada and Denny lives in Cushing; she has three grandchildren; one sister, Eula Tilley now of Norman; and a brother, Charles, lives in Missouri. She is the daughter of longtime Allen residents Walter and Mamie Brown.
Margaret worked at Wrangler in Ada for 27½ years before retiring and now helps out at the Allen Nutrition Site. Her favorite part of the Nutrition Site is the people. She enjoys visiting with them and being around her friends.
The Allen Nutrition is currently a “pick up only site” due to the increase in Covid numbers.
Anyone 60 year of age or over is invited to partake of the meals which are served free of charge but a $2 donation is suggested and appreciated. Site Manager Dava Beck asks that you call the day prior or before 9:00 a.m. that day to make reservations so they will know how many meals to prepare. The Site phone number is (580) 857-2803.
