July4th may have passed on the calendar but it’s never past time to celebrate Independence Day! Allen will be holding their 2nd Annual 4th of July Celebration this Saturday, July 11th .

The day will begin with our first ever Parade down main street. Entrants are asked to be at the baseball field for lineup at 8:30 a.m. The Parade will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Also at 9:00 a.m., registration for the Corn Hole Tournament will begin at the Allen Fire Station in the Industrial Park. Bags will start flying at 10:00. A concession stand will be available and don’t forget your lawn chair.

Registration for the Softball Tournament will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the field south of town. Teams will begin playing at 11:00 a.m. A concession stand will be available.

There will be a break in the activities during the heat of the day but vendors will begin setting up at 4:30 p.m. at the softball field and everyone is encouraged to be back at 5:30 for the start of the evening activities.

In addition to the vendor booths, entertainment will begin at 5:30 with Conner Wilson taking the stage. He will be followed by Sienna Yetter, then disc jockey Tanner Jarrett will provide music to finish out the evening. He will be spinning some amazing music!

The free BBQ Dinner will begin serving at 6:00. Thanks to the Pork Council for providing the meat. Jami and Willis Rinehart will be service watermelon for dessert.

We thought we would let the sun start setting and maybe cooling off some se we will start evening events at 7:00 p.m. You’ll be able to dunk your favorite firefighter or compete in one of the contests. Awards will be given for the Turtle Race, a 3-Legged Race, Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest, a Hot Dog Eating Contest, and a Water Balloon Toss. Meet us at the concession stand if you want to enter any of the events, we don’t wan to leave you out.

At dusk, a fireworks display will be lighting up the sky thanks to Tony Johnson and Leon Moore, assisted by the Allen Fire Department.

It is hoped everyone will grab their lawn chairs, some bug spray, and come out to enjoy the day with the friends and neighbors!

We want everyone to stay safe so we will encourage as much social distancing as we possible can, and if you feel safer wearing a mask, please feel free to do so.

We will close the gates to the softball field just before the fireworks and no one will be allowed out until the fireworks show is over. We feel that will be safer for any kids running around while it is dark.

Remember its going to be hot Saturday and there is not much shade there so prepare to sweat.
