This week’s Senior Citizen of the Week is Irene Biggs.

A native of Lindsey, Irene and her family moved to Allen in 1986. Why Allen, you wonder. It seems that in his line of work, her husband had been stationed near Allen for a time. When he retired he brought his family here because of the school and the friendly little town.

Irene is a retired LPN. She has three children, Mary Engle, Joe Gragert and Skip Gragert; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She enjoys fishing, hunting, reading, and working in her yard.

Irene and her husband, Bob Biggs, like going to the Allen Nutrition Site because they enjoy visiting, the good food, and making new friends.

The Allen Nutrition is currently a “pick up only site” due to the increase in Covid numbers.

Anyone 60 year of age or over is invited to partake of the meals which are served free of charge but a $2 donation is suggested and appreciated. Site Manager Dava Beck asks that you call the day prior or before 9:00 a.m. that day to make reservations so they will know how many meals to prepare. The Site phone number is (580) 857-2803.
