An application for a grant to benefit Allen Schools was discussed Monday at a very brief school board meeting.

To apply for the USDA grant, the school system had to advertise the matter in the Allen Advocate. It was posted in the paper so that residents could attend the school board meeting to ask questions. However, no one attended the meeting aside from administrators and board members.

The grant was submitted, and if awarded would benefit the school’s vo ag department. However, it will be April before the system knows if it gets the grant.

In administrative reports, Superintendent Jeff Hiatt said this past weekend and this weekend vo ag are showing goats and sheep in jackpots. Vo ag students will be attending the Southeast Regional sheep and goat show January 27 at Coalgate.
