The Senior Citizen of the Week chosen last Wednesday was Glendene (Prentice) Griffin.

A true Allenite, Glendene was raised in the community and graduated from AHS in 1951. During her school years she was a Lady Mustang basketball player and was named to the All-Star team.

In 1953 she married Bill Griffin and they moved several times while he worked in the oil field. They lived in Maysville, Lindsey and Seminole before finally returning home to Allen. The Griffins had 62 years together before Bill passed away in 2015.

Glendene has three children, Marla, Bruce and Leah, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

When asked, Glendene said her favorite part of the Allen Nutrition Site is the fellowship and food.

The Allen Nutrition is currently a “pick up only site” due to the increase in Covid numbers.

Anyone 60 year of age or over is invited to partake of the meals which are served free of charge but a $2 donation is suggested and appreciated. Site Manager Dava Beck asks that you call the day prior or before 9:00 a.m. that day to make reservations so they will know how many meals to prepare. The Site phone number is (580) 857-2803.
