A drawing will be held and holder of the lucky number will receive free: a shampoo, set and comb out.

There will be treats for the kiddies and refreshments served all day.

In addition to the regular services, Mrs. Self will stock and style hairpieces including wigs, wigletts and falls.

See the announcement ad elsewhere in this issue for the number to call for appointments.

Junior High Girls Wins Tournament

The third time was a charm as far as Bob Somerhalder’s Junior High girls basketball team was concerned. They won the championship trophy at Konawa last Saturday night defeating Latta 33-30. This was the third time this season that the Allen-Latta girls had met. Latta had won the other two games—by one point and five points.

Allen defeated Byng (38-20) and Bowlegs (36-32) to gain the finals.

The girls continued their winning ways here Monday night as they defeated Coalgate 35-22.

Girls making up the Junior High squad are Barbara Traylor, Mary Whitaker, Kathy Mitchell, Judy Erwin, Linda Baber, Cindy Priest, Shirley Gray, Sandy Hughes, Mary Matthews, Denise Spitler, Patsy Cosper and Peggy Nickell.

The boys were less fortunate against Coalgate. They were defeated 27-43 by one of the stronger Junior High teams in this area.

It was reported last week that the Allen Junior boys lost to New Lima, who went on to the finals against Byng. This final game of the Konawa tournament was also a good ball game. Byng came out on top, 40-35 over New Lima. Moore of New Lima, probably one of the best Junior High prospects around, scored 30 points against Allen and then got 29 of his team’s 35 point in their losing cause against Byng.

Cubs Are Ready For Another Year

The Cub Scouts met last Thursday night to reorganize for a full year of activity. The boys are looking forward to a full schedule of outdoor and indoor scout work and out of town trips. A track meet is being planned for the spring.

Fifteen boys reregistered and more are expected to register soon, especially new members. Any boy 8 to 11 years of age is eligible to join for a fee of 50 cents.

After a review of the past scout year, and scout rules and regulations, the boys retired to the gym for games and refreshments.

One interesting game was the ice rescue set. Working in teams of 5 the boys used the newer method of rescuing a person from a break through in ice. Using the slick gym floor, the boys learned to move in and operate by lying flat on their stomachs and interlocking each others wrists to pull the unconscious person to safety.

Refreshments were prepared and served by Mrs. Doyle Meeks and Mrs. Frank Lawrence of Atwood, assisted by Mrs. Rosa Gilbreath from Oklahoma City. The boys truly enjoyed the wonderful treats.

The Cubs are sponsored by the Allen Public Schools. Larry Darbison and Buck Gilmore have worked with the boys in coordinating their projects. There is a need at present for two or three adult scout committeemen. Anyone who would like to help should call Mr. Darbison.

Cubs who reregistered are: John Billingsley, Reggy Darbison, ricky Epperly, Tommie Epperly, Dale Johnson, Ricky Lawrence, Richard Meeks, Lynn Milner, Dickie Pegg, Jeff Stewart, Ferman Traylor, Ricky Tate, Scott Vandeveer, Terry Woodall and Arles Wells.

Former Cubs who have graduated to Boy scouts this year are Mike Crabtree, James Billingsley, Kevin McCarn, Owen Gilmore, Larry Wilson, Steve Spitler, Jimmy Wilson, Terry Hogue, Gary Gilley, Darrell Jones, Terry Olivo and Tony Walker. It is hoped there will be a Boy Scout organization for these fine boys to enter since they certainly have a good scout background.
