All newspapers make mistakes but this is one of my all time favorites . . .

Editors at an Australian newspaper may have to have that uncomfortable conversation with reporters about doublechecking their sources – and hearing.

In the midst of recent floods in the state of Queensland, The Rockhampton Morning Bulletin reported in its January 6th edition that floodwaters were so great that 30,000 pigs were seen floating down the Dawson River. But apparently the Morning Bulletin reporter misheard the source, who actually said that “30 sows and pigs” were seen floating down the river.

And last of all, my favorite Super Bowl story . . . Josh Rollings writes . . .

New to the area, my wife and I had been invited by neighbors to join them and some other couples in watching the Super Bowl on TV. During half-time, while my wife was in the kitchen helping the hostess, the conversation turned to videos. “We made a video of all of us in San Diego,” one of the women told me. “Want to see it? It’s in the car.” And she promptly ran out to get it.

Minutes later, while we were watching the tape of them running on the beach, my wife walked in from the kitchen. “Those are the ugliest women I’ve ever seen in a commercial!” she exclaimed, taking one look at the TV.

We watched the second half of the game at home.
