“Do men ever go to heaven?” a little girl asked her mother.

Something for voters to think about…

In an ancient Greek city there was a practice whereby if a legislator proposed a new law upon the citizens, he did so standing on a platform with a rope around his neck. If the citizens approved the law, they removed the rope. If they rejected the law, they removed the platform. It is a practice worth reconsidering.

We are not surprised when a left-wing politician lies to us, however we are surprised when President Biden tells the truth. Without question he is the biggest liar to ever serve as President.

Let’s take just one speech given in one hour and look at the…

WHOPPERS JOE BIDEN TOLD DURING THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

1. Chuck Schumer Is Minority Leader Before his speech even began, Biden greeted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer as “Senate Minority Leader.” Schumer has been the majority leader since Biden took office in 2021.

2. More Jobs Created in Two Years Than Any Other President “I actually created, with the help of many people in this room, 12 million new jobs,” Biden said. “More jobs created in two years than any president has created in four years. Because of you.”

Biden didn’t create new jobs, as he often likes to claim. The only reason the job rate is growing is that millions of people are returning to work after tyrannical bureaucrats shut down the economy for months in the name of stopping the spread of Covid-19.

3. Fastest Growth in 40 Years Biden also repeated his infamous lie that he initiated the “fastest job growth in 40 years.”

Records, however, show that employment from May 2020 to January 2021 under Trump grew by 12.5 million. During approximately that same time period, the unemployment rate also declined by 8.3 percent.

In January alone, American payroll jobs under Biden fell by more than 2.5 million.

4. Inflation Is ‘Coming Down’ Another lie Biden repeated from previous speeches is that inflation in the U.S. “is coming down.”

Yet, two years after the president greenlit the beginning of Democrats’ expensive spending spree, Americans are suffering from gas prices still well above $3 per gallon, weathering a recession, and paying 60 percent more for eggs than they did in 2021. Biden may not be responsible for the fastest job growth in the last four decades, but inflation under his watch rose at its fastest rate in 40 years.

Biden tried to blame the nation’s economic misfortune on the pandemic and the “unfair and brutal war in Ukraine” but the truth is, inflation in the U.S. directly coincides with the time he took office.

6. I’m Responsible for the Largest Deficit Cut in U.S. History Biden wants to take credit for cutting the national deficit “by more than $1.7 trillion – the largest deficit reduction in American history” in his first two years in office.

“Under the previous administration, America’s deficit went up four years in a row. Because of those record deficits, no president added more to the national debt in any four years than my predecessor,” Biden said.

The truth is, federal spending under Biden increased more than $10 trillion since his first month in office. That’s more than any other president spent in his first two years in U.S. history.

7. Republicans Are Trying to Cut Social Security Biden pledged to halt desperately needed cuts to bloated entitlement programs as Congress debates raising the debt ceiling.

“If anyone tries to cut Social Security,” the president said, “I will stop them. And if anyone tries to cut Medicare, I will stop them.” continued Page 10 The Democrats’ reconciliation bill passed last summer, however, raided nearly $300 billion from Medicare to boost insurance companies by removing leverage from negotiations on drug prices.

8. Fires Have Burned an Area the Size of Missouri President Biden tried to claim more wood had been burned by forest fires than the area of the entire state of Missouri.

“More timber has been burned than I’ve observed from helicopters than the entire state of Missouri,” Biden said.

In 2022, however, 7.5 million acres burned, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. Missouri’s forests span 14 million acres, and the state itself is 44.6 million acres large.

A fellow driving down the road came upon a farmer corralling hundreds of sheep for transport to market. The fellow got out of his car, went up and chatted with the farmer.

“I’ll bet you one of your lambs I can tell you the exact number of sheep you had in the corral,” the stranger said. The farmer, not believing it was possible, said sure. 

over the corral for a moment, turned to the farmer, and said, “463.” The farmer, who knew the count himself, was astonished.

“Well, a deal’s a deal,” he said. “Go pick out your lamb.” On the man’s way to his car, the farmer yelled to the stranger.

“Double or nothing, I bet I can tell you what you do for a living and where you go to work.”

“OK,” said the stranger, “Go ahead.”

“You’re an economist and you work for the government in Washington, D.C.” This time it was the stranger’s turn to be astonished.

“How’d you know?” he asked.

“Well, you go ahead and put my dog down and I’ll tell you.”

SENATOR BILL COLEMAN, R-Ponca City, has authored legislation to give municipalities more control over allowing marijuana grow operations within their city limits. Senate Bill 1801 would allow cities and towns to modify their standard planning and zoning procedures to determine or forbid certain zones or districts for the operation of new marijuana- licensed premises where marijuana or its byproducts are cultivated, grown, processed, stored, or manufactured starting Nov. 1, 2023.

“ C u r r e n t l y , Oklahoma’s statues are confusing as to whether municipalities have the power have the power to decide if they want marijuana grows in their communities, so this gives them control of such decisions for businesses licensed after Nov. 1,” Coleman said. “This should be a decision left up to local authorities as they have to deal with the increased crime, the odor, and other dangers like large building fires that endanger not only other businesses but residents as well.”

Under SB 801, any marijuana businesses licensed prior to Nov. 1, 2023, could continue to operate until they were no longer licensed by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority.

Coleman pointed to the recent fire that took out a large marijuana grow in downtown Tonkawa on Jan. 19 as an example of just one of the dangers municipalities must consider. The building was a total loss and residents who lived nearby were evacuated, while other downtown businesses were told to shelter in place. It required multiple agencies from surrounding areas to help put out the fire.

The bill will be up for consideration when the Legislation convenes this month.

We certainly hope our local legislators support this bill. I certainly do.

After being examined by the doctor, an old mountaineer was given instructions as to what he should do. Just as he was about to leave, the doctor said, “Look here, you forgot to pay.”

“What fer?” asked the old fellow.

“For my professional advice,” replied the doctor.

“Don’t owe you nothing,” said the mountaineer on his way out, “cause I ain’t going to take it.”

SMILE FOR THE WEEK The teacher in one of our local grade schools was showing a facsimile of the Declaration of Independence to her pupils. It passed from desk to desk, and finally to Luigi, a firstgeneration American. The boy studied the document reverently. Then, before passing it on, he gravely added his own signature.
