Come Celebrate with us Saturday

Mika Walker will Serve as Parade Marshall

Posted in:

Allen will be showing its patriotism by celebrating Independence Day on July 10 th ! Allen chose to celebrate a week later so that our neighbors from the area can join us celebrating as we have been enjoying their fireworks for years.

This will be the third annual July Celebration for the town complete with games, free food and fireworks.

Registration for the Corn Hole Tournament will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Allen Fire Station in the Industrial Park. Entry is $20 for a singles and $40 doubles. Bags will start flying at 10:00. A concession stand will be available and don’t forget your lawn chair.

There will be a break in the events during the day but the parade down Main Street will start at 4:00 p.m. If you need any information about the parade contact Lindsay Linker, Jami Rinehart or Lonni Rinehart. The line up will start at the park and proceed down main street. We have chosen a shorter flatter route for all our bicycle riders. There will be prizes for best entrants in different divisions.

This year we have chosen Mika Walker as our parade marshall. Mika has battled hard these past few month from Covid and we want to help celebrate his road to recovery. So look for Mika leading the parade in the fire truck!

Activities will then move to the softball field south of town and the games will begin. You can try your skill at Wiffle Ball games and home run contest, watch the turtle races, find a partner for the sack race and the egg carry, plus several more games still to be announced. The Chickasaw Nation will be bringing their Archery tag sets along with other items. So find a partner or someone you don’t like and fire away. We will have an inflatable water slide, bounce houses as well. Our watermelon seed spitting contest always is something you don’t want to miss and although somewhat disqusting we will also see who reigns supreme in our hot dog eating contest. There will be concession stand available during the afternoon and evening.

Free pork sandwiches, courtesy of the Oklahoma Pork Council, will be served, then RCB band will be on hand to provide the evening’s entertainment from 7:00 to 9:00. A fireworks display will light up the sky beginning at dark.

Vendor booths are available for a cost of $20. For more information please contact Lindsay Linker.

We will have a full list of donors next week but we would like to thank the Oklahoma Pork Council, Allen Fire Department, Ron and Mika Walker, Allen Auto (Jami & Willis Rinehart), Dottie and Alan King, Farmers State Bank, Allen Food Center, Allen Camper Co., The Choctaw Nation Councilman James Frazier and the list keeps growing.

It is hoped everyone will grab their lawn chairs and probably just as important your mosquito spray and come out to enjoy the day with friends and neighbors!
