Saturday for area children to hunt eggs at the Allen City Park. The 2:00 pm Buck Gilmore Memorial Easter Egg Hunt is sponsored by the Allen Chamber of Commerce.

The event is named for Buck Gilmore who spent many years organizing the annual event. No one enjoyed watching the children hunting for eggs than Mr. Gilmore and, although he has been gone for a number of years, those who knew him always think of him while hiding or hunting eggs.

Thanks to the workers who hid hundreds of eggs. Taking on the job were Dianna Brannan, Amanda Tollett, Dee Russell, Donna Wainscott, Pam Crabtree, Maddie Crabtree and Cole Jack. Winners received cash prizes, distributed with thanks to the Allen sorority members Terry Riddle, Danielle O’Daniel, Jill Kaminski and Sue Boyd. The cash for each egg was donated by the Allen Chamber of Commerce.

Ethan Fulkerson, Kalynn Fowler, Luciana Jones and Cheydon Fox were $1 winners; Lauren Baber, Ryder Johnson and Cheydon Fox found $2 eggs; and the $5 eggs were found by Deacon Sanford and Rylee Billy.

All the hunters went home with money and, hopefully, happy after a day at the park.
