Last Sunday was the kick off for the town park revitalization project. Group leaders were thrilled with the turnout as around 20-25 people gathered to clean, trim trees, remove trees and ready the structures for painting. There will be other work days for painting and more cleaning.

The Allen park committee was awarded a grant of paint from the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful Committee. The paint is donated thru H.I.S. Paint company plus a stipend for supplies.

The goal right now is to move the playground equipment up out of the lower section below the tennis courts to up just north of the pavillion. We have been gathering quotes for some new equipment along with some of the pieces we already have.

Next in our plan is to perhaps move the basketball court to one of the tennis courts and upgrade each of those surfaces. This gives the basketball court a fence around to help keeping the ball from rolling down the hill and clearing the old courts for possibly in the future constructing a splash pad in that area.

Of course as with everything it takes money and man-power. Our citizens have proven that they are always ready to help and we have applied and are currently applying for grant money to help us with our dream park. Watch the Advocate and Social media for more updates and work days. We welcome and appreciate all participation.
