Beulah Arnold celebrated a milestone recently that only a select few can claim – her 103rd birthday. She celebrated her special day, September 23rd , by sharing her birthday cake with family.

Beulah Mae Turney was born in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, one of the eleven children of Gid and Leona Turney. She attended school thru the 8th grade at Cetree, quitting to help the family at home.

In 1938 she married Noel James Arnold and in 1944 they made the move from McAlester to the Allen area, buying land east of town. The couple was blessed with two children, James Arnold and Barbara Arnold Sanders, who then added five grandchildren to the family tree. This number has since been increased with nine great-grands.

Asking a little about her past, she often told her children about the Depression and war years. As part of a large family, life was difficult and she said there were time they almost starved to death.

But the years were good to the Arnolds and in the past she was able to make several trips, fl ying to California to visit her brothers and sisters. One of her most memorable times was during a visit with several of her sisters. She and a sister made a quick trip to a store and when they started home they chose the wrong car in the parking lot. The ladies drove it several miles before realizing it was not their car!
